The Watch & Clock Shop

January 3, 2012

It's a slightly chilly Monday morning, but the sun is shining down on my hometown's Central Business District. I'm headed to The Watch & Clock Shop to get a new watchband for one of my timepieces. As I enter, I'm greeted by two gorgeous and elegant women: Mrs. Judith and Ms. Jissel. The shop is warm and welcoming with its soundtrack being authentic cuckoo clocks. Ms. Jissel continues to assist a customer while Mrs. Judith approaches me with a smile asking, "How may I help you today?" Without telling her what I need done, I'm already satisfied.

By observation, I was able to tell Mrs. Judith is big on making sure her customers are satisfied. She went as far as explaining to me which shade of brown (for the watchband) best complements my complexion. Impressed, shocked, and further pleased, I handed her my watch face so she could get to work. This was an opportunity for me to get lost in the magical, family-owned antique shop.

With all of the cuckoo clocks, grandfather clocks, vintage watches, and gems in the back room, it was extremely easy for me to lose track of time. By the time I got back to the front counter, I discovered my watch was ready an hour ago. With great customer service, a beautiful location, and an adventure waiting to happen, The Watch & Clock Shop is an ultimate experience—even if you don’t shop and just want to peek inside.

Before I left, Mrs. Judith and I struck up a conversation about the history of the place. She told me her husband, Joseph Hirzinger, an Austrian, bought the place in 1995 from the founder, Gordon Danserou. He founded it in 1958. The Watch & Clock Shop has always been family-owned, providing over forty years of superb service.
